Ian Etter is an artist whose drawings bridge the past and present, grounding his work in history while embracing the possibilities of contemporary innovation. His practice integrates traditional drawing techniques with digital tools and AI-generated imagery. Inspired by the geometric logic of classical Greek vases and cosmological theories, his work transforms complex ideas into tactile, visual forms. His drawings have been exhibited at Tiger Strikes Asteroid, The Wassaic Project, Ortega y Gasset Projects, and the Bemis Center, with solo exhibitions at Practice Gallery and Legion Arts. His work has been featured in Art Maze Mag and New American Paintings and is included in the registries of White Columns and Tiger Strikes Asteroid.

Etter is also a writer and curator. His essays and reviews appear in Whitehot Magazine, Glasstire, and Dovetail Magazine, offering thoughtful commentary on contemporary art. As co-director of PeepSpace, an artist-run initiative in Tarrytown, NY, Etter curates exhibitions that foster collaboration and community. He has also curated multiple exhibitions at Spring/Break.

As an educator, Etter teaches at the University of North Texas, where he develops innovative curricula that blend technical precision with conceptual exploration. His teaching equips students to approach art as a multifaceted and interdisciplinary practice, preparing them for dynamic creative careers.

Etter holds an MFA in Drawing and Intermedia from the University of Iowa and continues to blend his work in art, writing, curation, and education to foster meaningful engagement across creative communities.
